How can I tell if I need a new ECU computer for BMW? The car is an 1998 BMW 528i, and the car does not run. I was told that’s what I needed. But how can I be sure? Thank you.
Answer: The ECU (DME) is a big bucks item, and
should be diagnosed either by a dealer or an experienced, knowledgeable
and properly equipped independent BMW Tech/Shop. That is the only way to
be sure. Guesses by wannabes do not count.
