How do I re-program a key fob on a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu? I replaced the battery on my fob and now it stopped working. Does anyone have a procedure to reprogram it?
Answer:
The fob has a chip in it to control the frequency. You need a new fob
that works on the same frequency. You have three possible solutions:
- Take apart the fob to get the frequency off of it. it is required by federal law (FCC) to have the frequency on it. Then have Chevy get you a new fob that matches yours.
- Get a universal fob with a learn function. Where you point a working fob at it so it learns the frequency.
- Get an adjustable fob replacement. It has dip switches inside that you switch up or down with a pin.
