Black 1998 Volkswagen Beetle |
I was driving on the freeway and I noticed that my automatic 1998 Volkswagen Beetle car will not move in second gear. Lately, it has a hard time switching to the second gear, but nothing spectacular to.
I recently got my oil change at the same place I always do and the
mechanic’s said that there’s no problems with my car. Do I need a new
transmission? Or would a transmission flush do the job?
Answer: Your transmission may just be low on fluid. The transmission fluid
is a Volkswagen product and very expensive $30 per litter. You have to
use the right fluid and use the right process to fill it. My VW
automatic has 246,000km on it with no problems but I use the VW fluid
and the scanner. It might be best to go to the dealership for this, but get an estimate first and make sure they use the right stuff.
You must have a scanner to monitor the transmission temperature if you check or change the fluid. If someone thinks they can do it without using the scanner they are wrong. The process is very specific. Hopefully your transmission is just low.
