"Getting A Warranty for 2002 Volkswagen Jetta Driver Side Window Problems"

2002 Volkswagen Jetta

I have a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta – The driver side window fell into my door and I need to have it fixed. I took it to a window place and they said it was the motor and regulator that needed to be replaced. After online research I found there is a Limited Extension Warranty for such replacement. I am not the original owner so does anyone know if I can still go to the dealership and request they fix this?

Answer:  The modification applies to ANY Owner, so as long as your vehicle is in the warranty period of 7 years from the date of sale or in service, whichever is first, the service warranty program applies. I am surprised that the regulator has failed. You should know, though that window motors ARE NOT COVERED as part of this service warranty program. If the motor has failed, you’ll have to pay for the motor. Most of these vehicles have had the update done on them already; in the dealership where I was at, we did the updates when the vehicle came in for either warranty or retail service so that the owner wouldn’t have the window fail when they were using it.
Having said that, window motors almost never fail; 99+_percent of the time, the regulator update was the cause of the failure and the updated set up fixed the operation.
