2004 Volkswagen Passat TDI |
How do you change the oil filter on a 2004 VW Passat TDI Sport? Please I need a help.
Answer: Look down at the front of the engine you should see a plastic cap with grips around the outside and /or a nut head in the center.
Unscrew sealing cap and remove used oil filter element. Renew the 2 “O” rings as well as the oil filter element. Tighten sealing cap if it has a nut head the tightening torque is 25 Newton meters (Nm).
Drain and change the oil tightening the sump plug to: on 4-cylinder engines with a Sheet metal sump to 50 Nm or an aluminum sump to 30 Nm.
Reset service interval display with adjustment buttons for distance display and clock on dash panel insert
To reset: Switch off the ignition, press and hold the button next to speedometer, switch on ignition, the text service OEL, release the button.
Pressing the distance display button again switches the display to INSP service, for dash panels with digital clock, turn adjusting knob to right. If the dash panel has an analogue clock, pull adjustment knob out. The service shown on the distance display is reset and (- – -) appears on display, switch off ignition.
The original single journey mileage (trip recorder) or the next service will be displayed again after the service interval display has been reset.
