"2005 VW Passat Wagon: Low Oil Pressure Warning"

2005 Volkswagen Passat Wagon

The dashboard display said to stop the car and have it serviced. I stopped and restarted the car and the display disappeared. What should I do?

Answer: Check the oil level on the engine after it sits for 5 minutes. If the oil is low, add oil till it reaches the top line or full mark. If it seems excessively dirty or has a burnt smell, get it serviced ASAP; waiting could cause possible future engine damage. Oil and filter service is cheap, engines aren’t. Make sure that you change the oil with the correct Synthetic oil of the correct SAE grade, your mechanic should know what that is.
Also, it could be that the sensor could have a fault, but most likely its low on oil. If its not low on oil or the oil doesn’t have a burnt smell to it, take in for service to have checked out… hopefully its just a oil pressure sensor defective and not something else.
Hope this will help you.
