I went to the Nissan dealer to find out how many quarts of ATF my 2005 Nissan Xterra takes. It’s an automatic. They said 12 quarts which sounds like a lot. Can anyone confirm this?
If I drain the fluid will I need 12 quarts to fill it up or is there
some left in the torque converter which includes the 12 quarts?
Answer: Buy 6 quarts and be prepared to put in 4 and
run the engine and check after ten minutes so the oil runs down the
dipstick tube. Most of the time 2005 only take 5 quarts. Yes the torque
converter and dry trans takes 12 quarts but you also did not drain the
oil cooler.
