I just bought new 2003 Mercedes-Benz E500, then I realized that the drive side mirror has a gold tint color. Does anyone know why it’s look like that? Is that just a film that I can removed? It’s become a problems to me when I want to look out from the mirror, and I need to get rid of it immediately.
Answer: Sorry to tell you this, but you will need to replace that mirror. The mirrors have heating coils
that keep them from frosting up in the winter. When the coils short,
they overheat and burn the mirrors.You need to replace not just the
glass, but whole mechanism including the heating element. The dealer price is abut $600. You can find the parts cheaper elsewhere, if you can do the install yourself.
