1987 Mercedes Benz 190E |
I have a 1987 Mercedes Benz 190E straight 6. I was told that the water pump needs to be replaced because the board was leaking and my car was very laid bad. So I bought a brand new water pump on it and still think the same thing. What that could be the problem?
Answer:
Overheating can be caused by any number of things:
- if the engine is overheating at higher speed, try replacing the lower radiator hose.
- if the engine overheats at low speeds, check the operation of both the mechanical and electric fans. The electric fan won’t come on until the engine hits 105C.
- if the engine overheats at all speeds, try replacing the
thermostat. If that doesn’t work, a new radiator is probably called
for.
