"How To Do Manual Reset Check Engine Light on 2001 Ford Focus"

Green 2001 Ford Focus Hatchback

How do I manually reset check engine light on a 2001 ford focus? I know there is a way to reset the car’s computer functions using a series of buttons on the dashboard, I’m just not sure how to do it on a 2001 Ford Focus.
Answer: That little light is the only way that the car’s computer (PCM) can communicate with you. It doesn’t talk, so it comes on to tell you that the PCM has detected a fault or failure in one of the systems or circuits that it monitors.
The SMART thing to do is to retrieve the codes (DTCs) to determine why it is on in the first place. It could be something as simple as a loose fuel cap, or it could be an indication that you have serious trouble headed your way.
Retrieve the DTCs, and with a repair manual follow the proper diagnostic and repair procedures. Please remember that the code(s) indicate a fault in a circuit or system, and NOT NECESSARILY a specific component. Follow good diagnostic practices to avoid wasted money, effort and time.
