1998 Toyota Tacoma |
Check engine light came on… Took to
auto-parts store for a diagnostics test. Upper oxygen sensor is gone.
Read online that we try this because at least 1 sensor was replaced 2
years ago. So, how to reset the ECU for a 1998 Toyota Tacoma?
Answer: disconnect one of the battery terminals, wait for a few minutes. reconnect the terminal. that will reset the ECU.However, i dont think resetting the ECU will remove the trouble code. you have to use a OBD II reader like the one the auto parts store is using to clear the code.
Also, the trouble code should tell you if it is the O2 sensor before or after the cat that threw the code. if it isn’t the one you replaced, then there is a good chance the part is in fact bad and needs to be replaced.
