I have an 2005 Mazda RX8 with manual transmission and about 40000 mileages. Does anyone know what is the best way to start increasing the horsepower on this car? Thanks in advance.
Answer: CAI will give you maybe 1 or 2 hp, nothing substantial and unless you just want the sound not really worth $400. An exhaust will probably net you the same 1 – 2 hp increase, the sound is the major factor in changing that as well. You can get around 10 hp from going with a catless midpipe though, sometimes a bit more than 10 hp. You can send your whole ECU into racing beat and they can reprogram it for you. You could also get a cobb access port and get a tune from Mazda Maniac (rx8club.com) that’s probably the better way. There are not a lot of options for intakes, AEM is one of them though and is good, as long as your lucky and don’t get to much water into it. Exhausts you can buy whatever you want, just go by sound really. If you want major HP increases you need to go turbo or supercharger.
