"Question About Rear Brake Replacement on 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300SD"

Black 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300SD Rear View

I own an 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300SD and I want to replace the rear brake. Is there any special tools needed to remove or replace anything?
Answer: Your 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300SD is a 126 Chasis with 4 wheel disc brakes. Many people will say It’s not a “big-deal” to replace the rear brakes by your-self. But, If you have no experience, its best to have a reputable shop do the repair. A proper “rear brake job” includes the following, disc replacement if below minimum thickness/maching disc if possible, clean emergency shoes; lube important areas, install new quality pads. The brake caliper needs to be serviced by carefully depressing caliper “pistons” into position to install the new “thick” pads. Cleaning the caliper inner pad seat areas and appling specific lube is required. Safety and Reliability is why I recommend a “professional” do this work. Good luck!
