I own an 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300SD and I want to replace the rear brake. Is there any special tools needed to remove or replace anything?
Answer: Your 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300SD is a 126 Chasis with 4 wheel disc brakes. Many people will say It’s not a “big-deal” to replace the rear brakes by your-self. But, If you have no experience,its best to have a reputable shop do the repair. A proper “rear brake job” includes the following, disc replacement if below minimum thickness/maching disc if possible, clean emergency shoes; lube important areas, install new quality pads. The brake caliper needs to be serviced by carefully depressing caliper “pistons” into position to install the new “thick” pads.
