"1998 BMW 528i: Increasing The Tourque"

1998 Red BMW 528i Front View

I’ve got an 1998 BMW 528i and I’m looking to increase low to mid range torque without forced induction. I’ve got a free flow cutback exhaust as well as a dinan air intake and dinan remapped ecu plus iridium spark plugs. Any ideas would be helpful. The car just feels so heavy and slow off the line. I’m looking for more of that immediate punch in the gut feeling of low range torque.

Answer: The cheapest route would be to sell your car and buy a 540i or M3. You have already done all the easy mods. The 93-95 Mercedes E420 is a nice car too. I used to have one and it had some pretty serious torque for a stock engine.
But 80% of the time its more cost effective to add the money you would spend on car upgrades to the money you get from selling the car and use it to buy a car that’s faster/nicer than your old car would have been if you spent that money on it. That’s especially true if you would have paid a shop to do the mods instead of doing them yourself.
