1998 Honda CRV |
I have a heater problems on my
1998 Honda CR-V thermostat settings. When I turn the thermostat from
cold a warm, suddenly a mist fills the air that comes from the heater vents. What was that and how can I fix it?
Answer:
1. If it was the freon part of your heating/cooling system it would
soon run out if you were using the system. you can try that by Not being
in the car while you have the system turned on. It ONLY would be doing
that if you were using the defrost part of the heating system. (in the
summer time I’d say that if you were trying to cool off)
2. OK this might really be the problem: maybe given the age of the car that it could be a leaking heater core, and what you are getting is an anti-freeze leak.
You can check the overflow tank and see if it has any fluid in it,
BEFORE trying to open the radiator cap. If you need to check the
radiator to see if it has fluid visible don’t do when then the car is
warmed up. If there is a anti-freeze leak it will eventually cause a low fluid level in the system.
3. There also might be a build up of mold on the heater core, some auto parts places have a spray type to try and treat the heater core for mold. You might try and see if that vintage car has a cabin air filter.
