How to read codes from ECM on 1990 Volvo 240? The check engine light came and the car is not running properly, but it is still functional. I know where the code reader is but not sure how to read it. I have a Haynes manual with codes, but not sure exactly. Thanks

My 1990 Volvo760 Turbo Wagon just ran like crap today, would be idle to die soon after a load of the engine. I have a few blank lines suspicion, especially the fuel pressure regulator, and after replacing them it seems to be running better and is fine to drive, but not great. And now the check engine light is on. How do I read the codes? Is there a spell that opening and closing codes somewhere?

I have a problems with my 1999 Volkswagen Passat. The timing belt snapped so I took it to a shop, then everything else went wrong with my car. I had to get a new used engine, and then had to get it reprogrammed (flash). And I got a transmission flush as well. Everything became very expensive. Now, I just got my car back it runs like brand new for like a day. Its the third day since I have had the car back, and now it “kicks/jolts” (whatever you want to call it) when I accelerate. Whats the problem now?

1996 Volkswagen Jetta GL

I have a serious problems with my 1996 Volkswagen Jetta GL brakes system. Here’s what happened. I was driving and got off the exit ramp and pressed my brakes and they went all the way to the floor while slowing me down minimally. If I am going about 50 and press the brakes to the floor it only slows me down to around 40 or so…it feels like the brakes aren’t even there. I have taken the tires off…compressed the calipers…flushed out the system and bled the shiiit out of the brakes. But same problem still happened.
When I am bleeding it with the car off…it feels very very tight. While I was bleeding them and had someone in the car pumping the brakes I could see that they were actually compressing, but while driving I still have no brakes.
What is wrong with my 1996 Volkswagen Jetta GL brakes system? If you need any other details let me know. I really need to get this figured out. By the way, no visible leaks, no loss of fluid, and no brakes even when I pump the hell out of them going down the road. What do you think?

When should I change the transmission fluid on a 2002 VW Jetta? My Volkswagen Jetta doesn’t slip or jerk at all when changing gears. It’s an automatic and I’ve taken it to the dealership a year ago. They change a lot of sensors on it and the only thing left is the Cadillac converter but they didn’t mention any thing about the transmission fluid. The thing is it’s never been changed, it has 155,000 miles on it and it’s a 2.0 liter GLS. So I’d like to know when am I suppose to change the transmission fluid on a 2002 VW Jetta?

I have an ’03 VW Golf with 110,000 miles on it. About a year ago at about 80,000 my transmission (automatic) started to shift funny and become real jerky between gears. I have never changed the trans fluid and multiple people have told me that changing it now would only make things worse. Any truth to this? Will a trans flush fix my problem, make things worse, or make no difference at all? Thanks in advance for your solid answers.

I’ve looked and read in the owner’s manual, maintenance and warranty manual and online but no luck — the Subaru Legacy manual only mentions the 3.0 and 3.6. I found somewhere that the initial oil change takes place at 7,500 miles or 7.5 months but no clue how frequently after that. Does someone have any suggestion?

I have an 2001 Mercedes A Class, which was diagnosed a year and a half ago by Mercedes as having a faulty ECU, after going on their diagnostics machine. At the time they quoted over £800 for a new one but there was no way I was going to pay that! I’ve struggled with it ever since but it really does need fixing now. Can anyone help?
